The Claremont Colleges
Members of The Claremont Colleges
As a Scripps student, you can enjoy the nurturing atmosphere of a small college, combined with the resources of a mid-size university. Scripps is an independent institution with its own student body, faculty, campus, and distinctive style and purpose. As a member of the prestigious Claremont Colleges, it offers you so many more benefits: joint academic programs, cross-registration in courses, five-college (“5C”) extracurricular programs, physical facilities, and more. With a combined co-ed student body of more than 5,000 undergraduate students, you have a wide range of events and social opportunities. And all five colleges are located on one square mile.
As a student attending one of the “5C”s you may:
- Choose from more than 2,500 classes per semester though cross-registration
- Choose from 65 majors at Scripps and through cross-registration or intercollegiate programs
- Learn at cutting-edge science facilities that no small college alone could sustain
- Eat at all seven dining halls, enjoying special menus such as Friday Night Sushi, Taco Tuesday, or Steak Night
- Work out at four fitness centers, five swimming pools, and 12 playing fields
- Root for the CMS sports teams comprised of students from Claremont McKenna, Harvey Mudd, and Scripps
- Make friends and socialize with students from the other colleges
- Attend social events of each school such as the International Festival, lectures at the Atheneum, Claremont Colleges Ballroom Dance Company performances, and the Ceramics Annual
- Check out books from Honnold-Mudd Library, the central library for The Claremont Colleges and the third largest private academic library in California
- Watch events at one of nine different performing arts centers
