Frequently Asked Questions for First-Year Applicants
*If you are applying to Scripps via QuestBridge, please click here for directions*
When is the application deadline?
January 2nd, 2013 at 11:59 PM Pacific Standard Time.
I turned in my application on January 2nd, but the Common Application date stamp says January 3rd. Will that be a problem?
The Common Application runs on Eastern Standard Time. As long as you submitted your application before midnight on January 2, 2013 Pacific Standard Time, your application will be considered.
Do all documents have to be at Scripps College by January 2nd?
The Common Application and Scripps supplement should be submitted online by the deadline, but we will accept teacher recommendations and test scores if they are a little late. To ensure that your application is completed as quickly as possible, please try to have all materials in as close to the January 2nd deadline as possible.
When is the latest I can take the SAT or ACT for my scores to still be considered for admission?
If you are applying Early Decision II, the latest date you can take the SAT is December 1. For Regular Decision applicants, the latest date you can take the SAT is January 26. For both Early Decision II and Regular Decision applicants, the latest ACT date we will accept is December 8. If you are taking the SAT or ACT in December and/or January, please opt to auto-send your score report to Scripps College at the time of the test to ensure faster processing.
When is the last day I can interview?
On-campus and off-campus alumnae interviews should be completed by December 14th for Early Decision II and Regular Decision applicants. Requests after this date cannot be accommodated.
I submitted my application! Now what?
In the next 5 days, you should receive an e-mail from us directing you to our applicant portal. The portal will allow you to view which required documents we have received and which are still outstanding. Please check your spam inbox if you do not see this e-mail. If you have not heard from us after 5 days, please send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The applicant portal says I’m missing documents, but I know I submitted them. Should I be worried?
It takes some time to process what we receive from you. Please allow two weeks from when you submitted your documents for them to show up on the applicant portal. Your admission decision will not be affected in the meantime. If it still does not show up on the portal after two weeks, you may contact our office at email@example.com or (909) 621-8149.
If I need to resubmit or submit other documents, how should I do so?
With the exception of transcripts and test scores, we will take materials through e-mail (firstname.lastname@example.org), fax (909) 607-7508, or postal mail (1030 Columbia Avenue, PMB 2000, Claremont, CA 91711). Official transcripts must come from your school counselor and official test scores must come from the testing agency.
